A video broadcast on Thai national television shows a mother narrowly saving her baby as a scolopendra approaches.
The mother was on the phone but (maternal instinct) she noticed just in time the scolopendre (ta kaap in Thai) who was walking quickly towards his child who was playing innocently on the ground.
Bites from these creatures can be serious and even fatal for young children and may require hospital treatment.
In this case, the video shows that a woman in the room managed to trap the creature with a glass and no harm was done.
