The new banknotes bearing the effigy of Rama X
After the death of HM Rama IX and the accession to the throne of his son King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun, Rama X, new banknotes were put into circulation.
Of course, the old banknotes will still be in circulation and will be gradually replaced by the banks according to wear and tear.

The new banknotes feature the portrait of the current king on one side and the portraits of the last ten kings on the other side.
Anecdote about the Thai currency and the euro
Shortly after the creation of the €2 coin, some clever people realised its similarity to the 10 baht coin.
They were so close in size and weight that European vending machines accepted it!
Kilos of 10-baht coins were sent from Thailand to Europe before finer tuning of the machines put an end to the scheme.
