A Laotian Facebook star has created a buzz with his latest cooking video, where he shows us how to eat red ant eggs that have just fallen out of the nest.
A silly video, but one that reveals what's inside those ant nests frequently found in the Thai countryside.
Bualai is a famous Laotian even in Thailand, via his Facebook page which has over 300,000 followers, he introduces us to his rural lifestyle and his favourite foods.
In this video, which has more than 5 million views, he shows us how he cooks ant eggs, which are a popular dish in Laos and northeast Thailand.
These eggs are a great source of protein but the sting of these red ants is very painful.

Recipe for red ant eggs
First, he puts dried shrimp, basil, grilled rice, seasoning and, of course, his homemade dish, a strong smelling fermented fish paste (pla ra) in a bowl.
He mixed them up well and simply grabbed some red ant eggs of a tree teeming with ants.
"Folks, this is so great! So many eggs! Wait, it's burning!"
He alternates between Thai and Lao as he removes ants from his arms.
At one point, Bualai took off his shirt, but then went straight back to the tree.
He was willing to do whatever it took to eat his red ant eggs.
"Sep i-lii!" he says at the end of the video, which translates into "it's very good" in the Thai Isaan dialect.
