What to see in Lam Klong Ngu
Nang Kruan Falls
The Nang Kruan waterfalls, on 4 levels, in the middle of the primary jungle, are a great way to forget Erawan!
See : Erawan National Park in Kanchanaburi
The visit lasts about 2 hours, the first 3 levels are quite easy to access, the 4th is a bit more difficult, the path is quite steep.
The visit can be completed in one afternoon.
The SAO HIN cave
We need a ranger to guide us through the jungle and the bamboo during the 2 hours trek that leads us to the entrance of the cave, it goes up, down, climbs... Beautiful landscape.
Then you need a life jacket, and you jump into the river that crosses this cave, the ranger goes first and installs ropes, it's dark, and it's very impressive to swim in a cave, a bit of rock climbing, swimming and you discover a 62.5 m column after having crossed several rooms.
Backtracking, swimming, climbing, and trekking... Now that's hard! Going up !!!
In short, you need a day to do this visit, and you need to be quite sporty!
Nok Nang An Cave
Then, and this is my favourite, the Nok Nang An cave.
As for the other cave, you must be accompanied by the ranger.
The 1 hour trek is very nice, the landscapes are breathtaking, then we discover a small river, we have to jump into it, let ourselves be carried by the current, and we enter this cave, very high, no need for light.
It is a "passage between the mountains", daylight is enough, and re-escalation, swimming, jumping in the underground river, the foot!
To return to the starting point, we let ourselves be carried by the river.
The visit lasts about 3-4 hours, guaranteed to be a thrill, but not dangerous and much less tiring than the first one.
When to visit the Lam Klong Ngu caves?
These 2 caves are only open for 3 months a year, March-April and May, you need to plan at least 2 days to do 1 cave and the waterfalls, and you need to book in advance the ranger and rooms... Places are limited.
How to get there
The park is located at Sisawat, opposite, on the other side of the lake.
To get there, there are 2 ways, but the 323 road through Tongphaphum, although longer is easier and more pleasant, but from Kanchanaburi, it takes at least 2 hours of driving...
