Pad See Ew is a rice noodle dish sautéed in soy sauce, served all over Thailand, and is one of those delicious snacks that you can eat without going hungry.
In Thai: ผัดซีอิ๊ว ; also known as pat si io or pad see you
The perfect dish if you have a problem with spicy food, there is no chilli.
It's also an easy name to remember: "pat see you" think of it as an English phrase, pronounce it with an English accent or say "pate sii you" and everyone will understand you!
This is a dish that is normally made with chicken, but you can use tofu or the meat of your choice.
Recipe for Pad See Ew
Ingredients
Ingredients for the see ew pad
- 125 g large rice noodles
- 1 tablespoon peanut oil
- 2 pods garlic thinly sliced
- 1 egg slightly beaten
- 4 Chinese broccoli with leaves and cut into large pieces
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon sweet soy sauce or Kecap Manis (sweet soya sauce)
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
- 200 g chicken breast cut into thin strips (or tofu, shrimp, etc.)
Instructions
Preparation of the see ew pad
- Prepare the wide rice noodles according to the instructions on the packet.
- Separate them with a fork and drain them.
- Heat the oil in a wok and sauté the garlic until fragrant.
- Add the chicken (or tofu...) and the normal soy sauce.
- Add a little oil in one corner and then put the egg in, let it cook for a few seconds and mix it well.
- Add the broccoli and sauté until the broccoli is cooked.
- Then add the noodles and the sweet soy sauce
