Thailand ranked 3rd best country in the world by luxury travel magazine

Condé Nast Traveler readers ranked Thailand as the 3rd best country in the world in the Condé Nast Traveler 2022 Readers' Choice Awards.

Condé Nast Traveler is a luxury travel and lifestyle magazine published by Condé Nast.

The magazine's readers ranked Thailand 3rd on the list of 'best countries in the world' and Bangkok 4th on the list of 'best cities in the world'.

Many Thai islands, hotels and resorts have also earned top spots on other 'best of' lists.

With its third place in the 48 "best countries in the world" ranking, Thailand is only one of two Southeast Asian countries to make the top 10.

The kingdom scored 90.46, after Portugal (91.22) in first place and Japan (91.17) in second, and ahead of Singapore (90.09) in fourth place.

Similarly, Bangkok is one of only two cities in Southeast Asia to be included in the list of the 10 best cities in the world.

The Thai capital ranked fourth with a score of 89.36, after San Miguel de Allende in Mexico (92.94) in first place, Singapore (89.49) in second place, and Victoria in Canada (89.46) in third place.

On the list of the 10 "best islands" in Asia, Koh Samui was ranked 3rd with a score of 92.13, Phuket 5th (90.88) and the Phi Phi Islands 10th (76.41).

In the list of the "World's Best Resorts", Rosewood Phuket was ranked 11th out of a total of 50 resorts.

In the list of the "Best Hotels in the World", two Thai hotels are among the 50 hotels.

These are the Athenee Hotel, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Bangkok, in 20th place, and the Four Seasons Hotel Bangkok at Chao Phraya River, in 48th place.

In the list of the 'World's Best Spas', Chiva-Som in Hua Hin was ranked first with a score of 99.57, and Kamalaya Wellness Sanctuary & Holistic Spa in Ko Samui was ranked fourth with 99.01.

In the list of 'World's Best Train Journeys', the Eastern & Oriental Express journey from Singapore to Bangkok was ranked 8th out of a total of 20 train journeys.

Five Thai establishments have been included in the list of 'Best Hotels in South East Asia'.

These were Athenee Hotel, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Bangkok, which achieved first place (99.45), Four Seasons Hotel Bangkok at Chao Phraya River, which achieved third place (99.04), Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok, which achieved fifth place (98.65), Capella Bangkok, which achieved seventh place (98.49), and COMO Metropolitan Bangkok, which achieved eighth place with a score of 98.20.

The Condé Nast Traveler Readers' Choice Awards 2022 also included Thailand-specific lists, "The 15 Best Hotels in Thailand" and the best hotels in Thailand in the "World's Best Hotels" list by country and region.
