Trains to most parts of Thailand now depart from Bangkok Bang Sue Grand Station, effective 1 November, with the exception of eastbound trains.
Update: Bangkok Bang Sue Grand Station has been renamed Krung Thep Aphiwat Central Terminal.
Most long-distance, fast and express trains now terminate at the station.
The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) has stated that tickets for long-distance trains will be available on the south side of the ground floor.
The SRT hopes that the transformation of Bang Sue Grand station into a terminus for most trains will facilitate travel.
The station is connected to the red and blue metro lines and is close to the green, purple and pink lines.
It is also close to the Bangkok Interprovincial Bus Station (Mo Chit 2) and accessible by several public buses.
Bang Sue Grand Station, opened last year, is the largest railway station in Southeast Asia.
It has 26 platforms and 274,000 square metres of floor space.
SRT has added new trains this year.
In August, SRT added two new trains connecting Bangkok to Padang Besar, a popular border town in Malaysia.
In July, the train between the southern Thai city of Hat Yai and the Malaysian border town of Padang Besar resumed service.
SRT now runs 200 trains a day in the kingdom, mostly in the south.
Some 52 trains run daily in southern Thailand, while 46 run in the northeast, 36 in the north, 34 on the Mahachai routes, 24 in eastern Thailand and eight on the Mae Klong routes.
