Monkeys take over Prachuap Khiri Khan town hall

Monkeys in Prachuap Khiri Khan province have taken over the local town hall, forcing government officials to move out.

This is not a joke or a remake of the movie "Planet of the Apes", primates invaded the building and made life hell for Thai civil servants who had no choice but to move their office to a safer place.

The town hall building is located about 100 metres from Khao Chong Krachok hill, which is overlooked by a beautiful temple that is very popular in normal times.

The monkeys first took over the famous attraction and began to extend their reach to the town hall.

It is thought that the drop in tourism caused by the Covid-19 coronavirus, combined with the dry weather and drought, has created a shortage of feed for the animals, forcing them to look elsewhere for food.

They demolished the roof, electrical wiring, ceiling, light bulbs and office equipment.

The civil servants working in the building could no longer bear to deal with the monkeys and had to find and rent another building as a temporary office.

Parts of the ceramic roof tiles were torn off the building.

The same tiles were used to break the windows of the new town hall.

Inside the building, the ceilings have disappeared and you can see the sky from inside.

If it rains, the inside of the building will be wet and there are many bare electrical wires, making the place dangerous.

The building is now closed with a sign indicating that the Prachuap Khiri Khan Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives has been temporarily moved to the Ruen Chaba Resort on Suk Jai Road.

The local National Anti-Corruption Commission has also been moved to building No. 19 near the showroom of a Honda shop.

The monkeys also damaged vehicles parked in the area by users and town hall officials.

They mainly tear off mirrors and search vehicles.

Every evening, the monkeys continue to enter the town hall in search of food.
