The best time to go to Thailand

The cool season from mid-November to Februaryfollowed by the hot season from March to May.

When to go to Northern Thailand

Northern Thailand has three distinct seasons.


The hot season (March-May) is dry, with temperatures of up to 36°C.

The rainy season (June-October) is cooler, with the heaviest rains in September (daily downpours are expected).

While hiking and outdoor activities are still possible, mud and leeches must be considered.

Bring a warm jumper and socks, and a jacket if you plan to go into the hills.

This is the best time for trekking, with December and January attracting many visitors.

When to go to North East Thailand

Some areas around central Thailand can be hot and very humid - a combination that can be difficult if you are doing physical activities.

From July to October is the rainy season in central Thailand.

The East and mainly the provinces of Chantaburi, Rayong and Sa Keo are the wettest areas of the country.

It is this humidity that allows the cultivation of certain fruits such as Mangosteen and most of the fruit in Thailand comes from this region.

When to go to Southern Thailand?

The best time to visit southern Thailand is during the dry season from November to April.

The southern part of Thailand, extending beyond Phuket, is defined by two seasons: the rainy season and the dry season.

The dry season extends from December to May and temperatures range from 25 to 32 degrees Celsius.

The rainy season in the south begins around June and continues until October.

Rainfall usually comes in the form of short showers, so if you plan to visit Krabi and the surrounding islands, you will always have plenty of sunshine.

When to go to Chiang Mai

November to February : This is the perfect time to visit Chiang Mai, the weather is perfect for all kinds of outdoor activities.

March to May: Humidity and temperatures combine to make this a warm season.

The highest temperatures are between 33.4°C and 29.9°C, with similar temperatures in recent months.

Rain is fairly common with 5-10 days of heavy rainfall per month.

June to August The weather is pleasant with high temperatures.

There are 7 to 10 days of rainfall per month.

This is the second busiest season for tourism on Koh Samui, so accommodation and activities may cost a little more.

When to go to Phuket

March, April and May are the hottest months in Phuket.

At this time of year, many people go out of town or flock to shopping centres to escape the heat.

If you visit Phuket during these months, it is better to spend more on an air-conditioned hotel room or a resort with a pool.

November to February : It is the driest and sunniest season of the year and the high season in Phuket.

Expect to find calmer seas, blue skies and busier beaches during these months.
